A few days after Christmas we went to our ranch in Baird. Mason went early with Ryon and Sutton and I followed the next day. We got a lot more cleared and ready. Ryon put me to work on the ranger with the leveler behind me so I drove in circles and rows all around the entrance making sure it was nice and smooth. Super easy, pretty fun, and the boy in my seat with me was entertained. We switched off turns with daddy in the skid steer. The next morning we woke to a super cold and wet day so we had to call it quits pretty early. After a lunch at Taco Bueno, of course, we headed home.
New Years Eve we had friends over to celebrate. We are all usually pretty lame on NYE so it was fun to all be together instead of sitting at home separate :) We had tons of food, kids running around, and everyone was able to stay pretty late! Ryon and I actually stayed up til midnight! Whoohooo. How NYE changes once you have kids.
For New Years Resolutions this year, I'm struggling. Last year I attempted to do a "family challenge" every month of doing something "good" as a family benefitting others each month. I found it a lot harder to do than originally thought. BUT the one thing that did come out of it was the ability and desire to simply say yes to needs that came up during the year. We may not have done an actual project each month, but throughout the year we really did a lot to benefit others thru small things purchased, donations made, volunteering time, donating food and items to certain organizations and individuals….so I feel like we did great. And really got in the habit of thinking, "who needs help, are we able to help them?", then acting on it. I love it that now before Ryon just gets rid of something he just comes to me first and asks, Can you donate this? What a wonderful way to think.
So for this year….I have no clue. I do need to start cooking healthier again. I am in the habit of cooking for all of us, food we will actually all eat together, but it's not necessarily the healthy stuff. I also really want to learn to play the piano again before next Christmas. Crazy sounding I know, but the time is now :) Hopefully I can do it! I also want to feel good about a church by next Christmas. I know God is putting us on this path for a reason, but I do hope we feel content and at peace somewhere wonderful by next year.
I have no idea what 2014 holds for us. I didn't with 2013 either. All I know is that we had A LOT of trips and A LOT of fun. Seriously we did. I have pictures galore from great family fun and outings. So for 2014 I predict more fun times at our ranch (with a house), friends, family, and time here enjoying each other. We already have two beach vacations planned for the summer so that's a good start to our traveling :)
