Christmas was a really great time this year. Mason understands Santa and Jesus' Birthday and of course the presents. Both boys made so many sweet crafts this month that my mantle and tree are full of pictures and ornaments. I'll cherish these forever. All month I enjoyed doing new and different things with them. We made cookies, crafts, snacks, we just had a great time this year I feel like.
We went to Boerne the weekend before Christmas to be with my family. Mason loves to play with Elizabeth. They are fast friends once they see each other again. On Thursday before we left Sutton got diagnosed with the Flu. Yep, great timing. But we went to Boerne anyway bc there wasn't much we could do at that point. I put both boys on the flu medicine and hoped for the best. Sutton had a rough first night but was really pretty fine the rest of the time. Mason had a great time "deer hunting" with Papa around the house with his new guns. Both boys also got big trucks with trailers that are perfect for them. Me, Lora and Susan snuck away and did a little shopping in Boerne and drank a glass of wine on main street together. It was nice to be just us for a bit. Sunday we loaded up and went to my parents Ranch for Geistweidt Christmas. Mason again loved playing with the cousins and Sutton was right there with them. They were teaching Mason how to play pool and Sutton ate at the bar with all the big kids, it was really sweet to see.
Monday night we did Christmas with Sandy and Bill. Their house is always so pretty during the holidays. They are so generous to us and to the boys. I'm just so thankful for them each day to have them in our lives. I got some beautiful Kendra Scott earrings, gift cards and trains for the boys.
Tuesday was Christmas Eve. We had a quick day here at the house, I cooked a few things, and got the boys to nap time before church. We attended the Baptist Church with Rick and Teri. I was expecting to last about 5 minutes with them but they did awesome. It was mostly music though and there are big screens and lots of clapping at this church so they were entertained. We went to Rick and Teri's for Christmas with Ryon's family. Ryon played Santa and did a great job. We have a ton of people there so the gifts are a little ridiculous. Ryon gave me a gorgeous diamond necklace that completely surprised me. I think the only reason I didn't cry was because I was in shock and still am. I gave him a wooden bench for the top of our mountain at our ranch to sit and watch sunsets and enjoy the view. Rick and Teri's gift to us was a trip this summer together! We are probably going to Atlantis in the Bahamas. It will be really fun and we can't wait.
We then came home for Santa. We had already put out cookies and string cheese for the reindeer (we were out of carrots!) Once the boys were in bed, Ryon and I enjoyed some quiet time with a glass of wine and then played Santa. It was so fun this year! It was our first with Mason really understanding Santa so it was such a thrill to me to eat the cookies and write them a letter back and sneak around putting out the gifts. We got the boys a train table and they were super excited when they saw it. It has already provided hours of entertainment. Mason just keeps telling us how much he loves it. Sweet boy. This afternoon we went back over to Rick and T's for some lounge time. We didn't do much of anything and both boys ended up falling asleep on the couch. It was a wonderful Christmas. It was filled with so many firsts as a family, new traditions, new books and crafts, it was just such a fun year. These years are flying by with the boys being young so I hope to remember their excitement when they saw what Santa brought :)
