First Family Ranch Weekend

This past weekend was our first weekend as a family to stay for a few days at our new property! We were really excited, and a bit nervous to see how it all worked in the camper with the kids. Ryon went down Thursday and the boys and I met him there a little after lunch on Friday. Friday was a bit full of visitors, which is to be expected with our location. We are in the route of several Vestal Family members and they are all excited to see the land. Uncle Danny, Granny and Grandaddy, and Rick all stopped to say hello. It was fun to see Granny in the backseat of the Ranger with her seat belt on (with bow in hair of course) riding along all the bumpy roads. Yes we have roads on the land now! Ryon has worked incredibly hard the last few weeks and we can actually drive around and see the property now. It feels much bigger than I had ever thought 117 acres would feel. And there are several high points with beautiful views. It's so much more than I had imagined. Friday night was our first night in the camper and we did pretty well. We were all camped out eating junk food and watching Toy Story on the laptop when Mason couldn't have any more chips he freaked out and ran into the stairs. Thus busting his mouth pretty good! This led to a total melt down, no bath and just crying for a bit. He was overtired and hurt now! We had Sutton in the pack and play right next to the door, so no one was leaving or coming in that camper :) Mason woke in the middle of the night and went to the bathroom by himself! I woke hearing him say, mommy I need some help. He couldn't get his underwear back on and was a little lost I think. I thought it was just early in the morning so I put him in bed with us. Big mistake. It was only 3:30, so after an hour or so of him trying to sleep and wiggling around everywhere, Ryon finally calmed him enough to sleep. Saturday morning daddy cooked us all bacon and we had HEB cinnamon rolls, which we proceeded to crumble everywhere as much as possible :) We then headed out for a morning ranger ride. I love riding in the back looking at my boys in the front seat. I feel blessed, comfortable, and at ease watching them interact. We stopped at a great look out point and took some pictures. We then headed to the tank to throw more rocks. The tank filled up so much with the recent rain. We couldn't even drive around it like we had been able to a week before! It is huge. After lunch, Mason went with Ryon to ride the dozer and do some work. He ended up sleeping for a few hours in the dozer! Sutton took a good nap in the camper while I really enjoyed my alone time. I spent two hours outside (locked out of the AC bc of the sleeping baby!), reading a book and drinking a beer. I haven't had that much relaxation since before Mason was born probably. It was hot as hell but boy did I enjoy it. Saturday night we cooked burgers and were all in bed pretty early. Both boys slept all night long! Overall it was a really fun and relaxing first weekend as a family out there. I can't wait for more ranger rides, rock throwing, and "mommy" time in our future.
