Justin turned 30 this week so in true fashion we headed to the Brownwood Lake, because since Mere doesn't have baby boy on the ground yet, Justin is still her recipient of big birthday parties :)
Friday we went to the ranch because we were supposed to have pictures Saturday morning. Our photographer ended up getting sick and needing to cancel. I was SO sad, a tad emotional and pretty pissed, haha. The work involved in having a family photo session is kinda stressful, especially since we were going out of town for it! This was one thing I have been wanting for a long time now and when it didn't happen I was not a happy mommy. I don't ask for much just for myself, just something for ME. :( So instead of pictures we headed to the lake a bit earlier on Saturday morning to spend time with Ryon's family. We ate grilled ham and cheese out on the lawn, changed clothes and headed to the boats. The sun was perfect, the boys were on great behavior, and the company was fun. Both boys and myself all took turns riding the tube with Ryon. Poor Ryon was probably on that thing for an hour! But he's our hero and the only one we wanted to ride with :) I was shocked Sutton got on the tube, the kid that usually hates swim lessons in 85 degree water jumped on a tube in freezing cold lake water! Crazy kid. Mere made her famous chicken spaghetti for dinner and a few more family members came. It was a fun weekend. We really did enjoy ourselves.
For mother's day last week both boys had things at school for me. I loved being at Muffins with Mom with Sutton. He insisted on drinking out of a big boy cup and wiped strawberries all over my white pants, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. It is fun to see him in his element at school. That afternoon I went back up there for Mason. He was SO excited to see me and was being really sweet the entire time. He sat in my lap while we read a story and then he sang a song. He was really excited about singing it and then clammed up :( He does the same thing at church. He knows all the words and will sing to me in the car or afterwards but not for an audience. He was just sweet the entire time I was in his class; which for him is a nice change! I never know how he'll be when I show up to things so it was a great time. Thursday Ryon picked the boys up from school because he just wanted some extra time with them. He took them to the mall….seriously?!…he did have to rent a $7 double stroller after realizing you can't take two toddler boys to the mall….Anyway, they bought me the greatest dress! Ryon did great, and I'm really going to enjoy it this summer. Mason was so excited about it he came right into the house and said, "mommy we bought you a pretty dress!!" haha, no surprise :) I also got a pedicure gift card.
Mother's Day was great this year and I'm so thankful for the boys teachers and Ryon for making it special for me.
