As I shared in an earlier post, we have taken on the challenge of doing something "good" each month for the year of 2013. For February we chose to help Gifts of Hope here in Midland. It is a home that houses cancer patients that are currently going thru treatment at the Allison Cancer Center. This house is used for patients that are coming from all regions around Midland and don't have a place to stay during their treatments. I can't imagine going thru Chemo and not being in the comfort of your own home and family. Gifts of Hope was in need of help with their toiletry bags for their residents. They simply needed help organizing what they had and then needed us to purchase toothbrushes and tooth paste for the kits. So last week I stopped by the house and picked up what they had (shampoos/conditioner/soaps/lotions) and went and bought the other supplies. Last night we made time to sit down and put the bags together. It didn't take us long at all, especially with the help of Mason who was an expert at giving daddy the toothpaste. I love that we are starting Mason young in learning to help others. I know he doesn't understand it quite yet, but someday he will look back and hopefully implement these same skills in his own little family. I like this tradition we are starting and can't wait to see what else we get to be a part of this year!
