First Week of School

We had a great first week of school! The boys were just brave and excited about the first day. Mason has Mrs. Lary this year and his best friend Ryan in his class so he was thrilled with that. Sutton has Mrs. Jones, who has been a good friend of mine for a few years. Both boys just walked in so confident and ready to start their year. I think it's always harder on the parents. I was doing very well until I sat and watched Sutton put his backpack up and everything by himself. It's that moment you know they really can do this on their own, and I have taught them well. To go into this big wide world and be confident in who they are. I cried a few tears but had to hide them because I didn't want the boys getting upset too. The first day is always kind of a rushed feeling. By the time we got Sutton settled and excited, we were the last ones in Mason's class. He remembered where his desk was and was ready.....and just like that we were supposed to just walk out the door and leave. Luckily, we had this coffee meeting in the library that morning so I got to see several other good mamas and hug and visit a bit. I'm thankful to be making good friends at the school and I'm hoping each new year gets easier. I have been incredibly lonely this week though. The house is so quiet, Callahan is taking super long naps (since it's silent.) and the noise and excitement have just been gone. I'd be lying if I said it hasn't been a pretty hard week for me. My mind has been full; of things to remember for the boys, of sweet memories, or complete surprise that this time has come. I'm hoping it'll get better once my bible studies and things get started for Callahan too. It's just been quiet, slow and lonely while they were gone this week. We were busy with Soccer starting this week and having a parent night Thursday night. So far Mason has played hard and loved the monkey bars because when you are in kinder you get to do them! He's enjoyed his PE class this year and gets to check out a book from the library too. So there's been a few new things this year that he really likes. Sutton has been funny this week. All I really know is that he's chased some girl around the playground everyday with Karter and Tebow and that Karter and Sutton are "bros" Goodness gracious. I need to meet Karter's mom because it sounds like we could have our hands full! He's being good though and figuring out the school thing. He started soccer this week too and is going to be a good fast little player I think. I'm excited about watching him this year!
