Our daily Summertime Blog! Sometimes the days pass quickly and I don't ever want to forget our fun. Here is our play book of the summer. It was a great one again, with just me and my sweet boys….
Week 1: Tuesday we played at the house all morning since we'd been gone. We made a concrete stone with our handprints. That afternoon we went to a friends house to play on a water slide and have a play date. There were 12 boys and 6 girls there. Ryon cooked out and we all played baseball after dinner. Wednesday: Sutton had his 3 year well check and did great, we went to target and bought way too many pool toys, ate lunch and headed to the pool together. Ryon mowed the yard that night and we cooked out. Thursday: We donated canned goods from Sutton's birthday party to the Jubilee Center, went to barnes and nobles to play, rode our bikes, watched a movie, made rocket ships, painted our handprints and wished for rain but we mostly got wind. Friday: Boys stayed with a sitter while I had our sonogram appointment, we played baseball, rode bikes and then went to the pool with daddy before he left for the ranch tonight. Saturday: We made orange pancakes, cinnamon rolls, went to Alter'd state to buy a gift and the boys each bought me a ring, subway for lunch, park, movie time, bike rides, ate dinner on the patio. Sunday: Church, Pool party, Tk's and Ricks and then daddy was HOME!
Week 2: Monday: Ryon took off of work to spend the day with the boys bc he was just missing them from the weekend. They went to Tractor Supply, lunch at CiCi's pizza, pool all afternoon and then Vacation Bible School started at 5! While kids were away Ryon and I got a pedicure, shhh don't tell his friends, and we went to dinner and the lowe's. So thankful for our together time. Tuesday: We went to the park, had some quiet time, made these awesome "paint in spray bottles" canvases and then headed to VBS. Ryon and I had dinner together again! Wednesday: We headed to see Annie for the dollar movie at the theatre. I sat in awe staring at my boys in the dark theatre. They were so big, yet so little in the chairs, eating popcorn and snacks. Wanting to cuddle a bit. Sweet moments for sure. We came home and swam in the little pool a bit while Sutton slept. VBS night 3 was underway :) Thursday: We picked up chic fil a and headed to our pool. Just the 3 of us. That's they way I prefer it really. Boys swam their hearts out for hours. We cuddled up in my bed and "took a rest" before it was VBS time. Friday - Sunday: VestalFest! We fished, golfed, found frogs, chased lizards, played in the pool, drank gatorade, bonded with cousins and slept very hard!
Week 3: Monday: We went to the fire station with some friends. We had a fun time climbing in the fire trucks just like last summer. Mason had a minor meltdown towards the end so it was time for us to go home. The boys were tired and it was kind of a long day trying to entertain. Tuesday: We had pool time! Wednesday: I had a Dr Appt so a babysitter came for a bit, we played with nerf guns, and Ryon came home early and took boys to pool. Thursday: We spent 4 hours at the Green Tree Pool with Tk and the family crew. Sutton jumped off the diving board! Such a brave boy, no fear. Friday we headed to Escondio.
Week 4: Monday: The boys are attending a morning camp at Racquet Club. They loved it. Sutton didn't want to swim in the bigger part of the pool so Mason just stayed with him. They played tennis at home, jumped on the trampoline, we played race cars, and rode scooters. Tuesday after camp I think we just played at the house but can't really remember. Wedneday Paxten and Maddox came over after camp for a little while, then we had a birthday party, picked up Rosa's and were all in bed by 8. Ryon played golf late. Thursday after camp Sutton fell asleep for a long time and Mason and I enjoyed a great afternoon of digging and being together. I love to dig with him. Thursday night Ryon and I had a date night to Venezia's. It was such a great evening with him. Very much enjoyed our alone time together. Friday I had a Dr Appt in the morning and we swam at Green Tree with TK all afternoon, cooked dinner out at home that night and enjoyed a family game of football that night. Saturday we went to the Lubbock Science Spectrum for Critter Fest. It was such a great day seeing animals and the rest of the museum. We hadn't been since last summer so the boys enjoyed being there again. We saw elephants, camels, zebras, and a ton of other animals. The boys rode ponies and loved it. Sutton wanted the big one and was super happy. We did a little shopping and ate at Cap Rock before heading back home. Today we had a pool party for Meredith's birthday at our pool. Lots of hours at the pool again!
Week 5: Monday we went to the park to play. Sutton amazed me at how tall he's gotten and needs no help from mama whatsoever. It was already hot though so we didn't last too long. After a cool down at home we went to Barnes and Noble's to get more legos. We spent the next few hours at the coffee table putting together a rocket ship and a fire truck and trailer. Sutton did awesome at reading directions, finding the pieces, and listening and putting them in place. Mason has done this well for awhile too but his was a much harder set so he was getting frustrated. I was thankful for indoor entertainment though. Ryon got home and came to our rescue and finished off the designs for us. However, they never last long. They are broken within hours and the boys create something new. Tuesday went to see Mr. Peabody at the dollar movie. We enjoyed hot dogs and candy. I love how Sutton puts his hand on my arm. He doesn't want to hold my hand, but he just lays it gently on my arm in the sweetest way. Wednesday morning we woke up late and picked up donuts and took to a new park we hadn't been to in years. They recently redid it so we met a few friends there. That afternoon it was a lot of playing here at the house like usual. The boys are so creative and run around and create new things all day. Thursday morning we headed to a birthday party for a school friend of Sutton's. It was so fun to see Sutton with his buddies again. They had a great time together. As they sat and ate, they "cheers-ed" their cheeto puffs and laughed and just were so happy being together again. We picked up lunch and went to our pool for the afternoon. That night we went to chuck e cheese. Sutton was given a gift card for his birthday and we used it for the boys' good behavior. We ate lots of pizza and played our hearts out. Mason is getting great at the driving car games and they just like to do anything with daddy. Friday Ryon had the day off and was supposed to get to play golf but his buddies canceled, so that wasn't very fun. Instead he stayed home, did some yard work, and hung out with the boys. That night we went to the Rockhounds Game and had a fun family night. Saturday we played at the house and entertained friends that night. Sunday I took the boys to church and we played here, picked up chili's for dinner and were exhausted that night.
Week 6: Monday: We played here at the house, painted Mimi a birthday present and Ryon came home late that afternoon while we were riding bikes out front with our new suburban. We LOVE it. We took a tour of the hospital that night and Sutton was very curious why "they didn't give us ours baby!" Poor thing has to wait a few more weeks. We ate at Dos Compadres for dinner together. Tuesday: We loaded up our new car with our bikes and headed to the park, came home for lunch, and then went to the grocery. So fun with both boys. The new market street doesn't have carts that fit both of them so it's basically horrible taking them there. The boys and I made homemade ice cream and brownies. Ryon came home and the boys put together a new kids table for the patio, messed with the car, we ate spaghetti, had a rough night for listening but finally all made it to bed. Wednesday we went to Petsmart to see the animals and make Bradley a new tag, the dollar store and visited Mimi and Gran at the office. We showed off our new car and gave Mimi her birthday gift. After lunch and play time I turned on a movie. The boys needed to zone out for a bit! I got a lot of things done, Sutton snoozed and at least Mason was still and quiet for a bit. Ryon is at the driving range with them right now! Thursday morning we went to church so I could enjoy a bible study and volunteer with the neighborhood program. We were going to go to the pool but it was closed :( So instead we put cranky Sutton to sleep, I did baby laundry while Mason did legos and watched a movie and once Sutton woke we went to the library and then to Jason's Deli to eat dinner. Sutton did not stop moving the entire meal. His dance moves are epic these days. We all got ice cream and the boys had it dripping from their elbows when we left, luckily we ate outside. Ryon got home late that night from his tournament. Friday I had a Dr Appt to check on baby. All was well. 140 beats for the heart rate. Teri wanted the boys so I left them go gladly! They had a big day of lunch at Graham's with Brown Grandmother, got new tennis shoes for school, went to the pool and then saw Minion's at the movie theatre with Rick too. We got several videos of them racing each other on their bikes as well. I ran a bunch of errands, went to the mall, and enjoyed my kid free day. Friday night Ryon and I had a party with his golf tournament at Midland Country Club. It was such a great night outdoors, by the pool, talking to friends. We really enjoyed our night. Saturday Ryon headed out to play in his tournament, I went to get the boys and we rested in the afternoon before a birthday party for Trace and Sterling. Sunday was Barrett's dedication at First Baptist so I took the boys there and we ate lunch and hung out at Meredith and Justin's for the afternoon while Ryon finished up his tournament.
Week 7: Monday we ran a few errands in the morning, Sutton helped me make mac and cheese in his new apron. We met Taylor and her kids at the pool and Bethany and the boys joined us as well. We stayed for a pretty long time. Once home, Sutton fell asleep and Mason and I dug and played on the fort for awhile. I actually got kinda overheated and dehydrated and starting have some contractions. They were enough for me to tell Ryon about them and be a little worried that the baby was coming! The boys and Ryon went on a long bike ride that night before bedtime. Tuesday I had a hair appointment so Madison came to watch the boys while I did that and ran to Sam's by myself. We just played at the house that afternoon. Wednesday I took Mason to visit Midland Christian. I wanted him to see the inside of the school before the busy-ness of Open House. He loved it and thought the classrooms were great. He is excited about it. We then headed the mall to return some things for Ryon and had lunch in the mall at Chic-fil-a. I never take them to the mall with me but they ate well and we did enjoy our time. Wednesday night Ryon mowed. Thursday we went to church for bible study and the neighborhood program. I have really enjoyed it and am sad to have to miss the next few weeks because of baby. Sutton fell asleep and Mason and I played and got ready for the Brazell's going away party we hosted that night. We had over 30 adults and a ton of kids over here. It was probably the most we've ever had but our house survived. We did appetizers so we didn't have to cook or anything, it was just a lot of people at our house! It was fun to see our yard and living room just full of people though and I'm really going to miss Meredith. She is a huge part of why I have loved St. Luke's. Friday morning I had another Dr. Appointment, I'm SO ready for them to be over with. When I got home the boys and I headed to the pool for awhile. Sutton is getting so great and has really increased his strength and agility in the water. That night we went to Midland Country Club with Melanie and Josh to have dinner. The boys did the Kids Camp while we had dinner. Saturday Ryon took the boys over the the Bennett's to swim and cook out. Melanie and I joined later in the day and we ended up staying until 7. The boys swam and swam and we have amazing videos of them dancing. They have the most fun personalities, especially together, and several times during the day I laughed until I cried, which felt good :) Ryon and Josh enjoyed having cannon ball contests as well. Sunday we all went to church together, which was great since it had been awhile. We had a full sunday school class. We ate lunch at Subway afterwards, took it pretty easy in the afternoon; getting a few things done for baby, resting, baseball, soccer, and bike rides. And finally bedtime :)
Week 8: This is our last full week just the three of us before baby comes. I have every intention of truly enjoying my days. I have all summer. Some days have been much better than others obviously! Monday the boys woke early enough for us to pick up donuts and head to the park. We met a few friends there but mostly the boys just did laps around the park the entire time we were there. They are wonderful bike riders and they love the freedom. By 10:30 it was hot and we needed some air conditioning! We came home and Sutton helped me make lunch. We did puzzles in the kitchen floor and then took Bradley to Petsmart for a hair cut before baby. I had intended on doing a few other stops but we all just needed a break and to be home. I attempted nap times and laid down myself. It only lasted 30 minutes before Mason woke Sutton up and we were all up and playing again. Ryon came home early so I picked Bradley up by myself (always a treat to do this without all my extra kid help!) The boys helped Ryon with our new safe and we watched the boys race each other after dinner. Ryon cooked a great steak and salmon for us. Tuesday was dollar movie day so we saw The Muppett's. The boys held my hands and ate too much candy. We stopped at chic-fil-a to pick up lunch, ate at home and then spent a few hours at the pool. I had a girls night at Green Tree Country Club! It was fun. Wednesday we took it easy, made a few short errands, ate lunch at Rosas where Sutton loved the music and of course danced a lot, came home to make forts in the living room. Boys dressed up in full baseball gear, they looked adorable and we had fun playing. Had Popsicles, came in to cool off and after some quiet time we went back out to dig. The cool dirt feels so good to sit in...kinda feel like a dog :) we survived dinner and boys were in bed at 7:30! Trying hard to adjust bedtime to having to wake up early for school in a few weeks. Thursday we did puzzles and played at home in the morning, I went to lunch with a few friends and when I got home Sutton went straight to bed. He was cranky! Mason and I chilled out on the couch as I was tired. After waking we played some baseball and then headed to church to see Alladin. Friday the boys got busy playing here at the house and we had an epic dance party in Mason's room. Lights off, tejano music blaring, oh I love dance parties with them. Needless to say I was out of breath! Ryon came home at 2 to keep the boys while I had a Dr appointment and took boys to the pool with Justin. We ordered Outback and cooked the boys dinner in which they ate way too many chicken nuggets, and like 3 sandwiches a piece….seriously boys, there is so telling how much groceries have been or will be in your future! Saturday we played. I had a few things I wanted to do around town so Ryon got to experience dance parties for himself! Ryon mowed the yard and we ended up all in the garage making the boys' bikes cooler with horns and bells. As if they needed more noise. We were going to go to the baseball game but after sitting in garage for not that long I was already swollen so we opted to go to dinner instead. We bribed the boys so they'd eat all their dinner….they ate every single crumb. Their bribe? Getting to race daddy in the backyard. I'm not sure why this seemed so exciting as we are always racing and being crazy back there but I'm just glad it worked! Sunday we all went to church and ate at Dickey's together. Came home, filled up the kiddie pool in which Ryon sat on and got jumped on and splashed quite a bit. I packed for the hospital and got a few things done around here. We enjoyed some family time on the swing out back and really just enjoyed being together with nothing on the agenda.
Week 9: Monday: The boys (finally) filled their jar with buttons so we had a donut date for breakfast. We made a few quick stops for errands and came home to play. We met Taylor at our pool for the afternoon. I love swimming with the boys. They race each other and have really improved their skills and stamina over the summer. Sutton can swim right there with Mason and I'm so proud of him. Ryon and I went to dinner "one last time". We went to Cancun Grille, they've redone it and it is awesome. I was so impressed and didn't feel like I was in Midland at all. We then went to Barnes and Noble to get some cheesecake to bring home. Tuesday: My last real day with just the boys! Bittersweet to say the least! They woke early enough to be able to go to the park for awhile so I loaded up the bikes and away we went to Fasken Park. They just ride miles and miles around the pathway. We met the Roby's and it was good to catch up with them. We stayed too long until we were all hot and dripping with sweat. We came home and had lunch and then headed to the pool. After awhile people started showing up, the boys played a little pool baseball with some older boys which they loved. Bedtime was early tonight since we played hard and didn't rest at all. Mama is tired and the boys were asleep within about a minute. It was a good normal, last day, everything I had wanted it to be….. just the three of us doing our thing and enjoying our day together. Tomorrow the boys go to Meredith's while I have my final appointments, my parents come in the afternoon and then it's off to TK's and Grandaddy's for the weekend while we welcome new baby. The day has finally arrived.
I'm going to go ahead and end this "summertime blog". It's been a fun way for me to remember our days together. We are off to new adventures now!
