I'm a bit behind on my writing, simply because a lot has happened and I haven't taken the time to process everything. Ryon and I scheduled a little family vacation to Fort Worth over the Easter Weekend. We wanted to do something really fun with the boys before baby arrives and it was a good time for us to go. Ryon took the entire week off of work which was wonderful for him. He spent Monday working around the house, hanging out with us and then Mason had his first T Ball Game. (More on that later!) Ryon headed to the ranch after the game so he'd have all day Tuesday to work by himself. I took boys to school and attended Sutton's Easter egg hunt. He did great and I have really loved watching him grow his friendships and his leadership in his little class this year. After pick up we headed to Ranch to meet Ryon.
We started our little family vacation by sitting on top of the ranger on our highest point of our land watching a storm roll in. It was peaceful and obviously left a memory on my heart. Wednesday we got up and headed to Glen Rose to visit the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. We had a blast! We loaded up on chips, suckers and animal food and were on our way. They had so many different species of deer, zebras, giraffes, turkey's, everything you could imagine. The animals came right up to our window to get their food leaving us a bit scared at times but it was just amazing. The zebra's and giraffes were our favorite. It was so beautiful to just watch the animals freely roaming the land, eating trees, playing with each other; it was the closest I'll get to Africa ;) If we wanted to, we could just reach out and touch the animals. Sutton loved the zebra's and tells everyone he saw Marty from Madagascar (the zebra). We ate lunch on top of the hill at their cafe and enjoyed the petting zoo as well. There was a bird that would say the boys names and goats everywhere, leaving everyone excited. The boys spent a lot of time just standing on the console looking out the sunroof. It was a beautiful ranch.
We then headed to Great Wolf Lodge. Once arriving, the boys were already in awe of everything. They were running up to the glass where the water park is, pointing things out to us and just couldn't wait to get going. We were all given wolf ears to wear and I will never forget all of us walking thru the hotel with our little ears on looking at everything there was to see. Once in our room the boys got so excited to see that they had their own "wolf den" with bunk beds to sleep in. They both immediately crawled into bed and said they were going to sleep! We had to convince them it wasn't bed time and that we were going to play. That night we spent a little time scoping out the pool, playing arcade games and ordered pizza for our room. Sutton was SO excited because he saw the girl wolf and got to take his picture. I'm so glad we saw her when we did because we didn't see any of the other wolfs our entire trip!
Thursday was our fun resort day. We woke up and ate a great breakfast buffet. The table next to us all had apple juice for their kids and they really looked like cups of beer sitting around the table….I think Ryon was wishful thinking :) We watched a little show by the animals in the foyer and then were off to the water park. The boys love the water. They love to swim and be together. This was a great place for them. Mason was wishing for deeper water so he could really dive in and swim but he was sweet and stayed with Sutton and we all were able to really play and enjoy each other. The boys loved going down the slide together holding hands, and there really wasn't anything sweeter to watch. Sutton's favorite thing were the jet skis that shot water out of them. (Imagine that, a gun being his favorite!!) The boys had a great time splashing daddy over and over. We all enjoyed the lazy river a few times and Mason and Ryon went down the big slides together too. Sutton was a bit too short to enjoy the bigger slides. We loved the wave pool too obviously. We ate a late lunch out by the pool and stayed until our fingers were as wrinkly as could be. We got ice cream and sat outside and then hit up the arcade again. Mason just kept calling it chuck e cheese. They had great games and we all really had a lot of fun and won some fun souvenirs. Once back in the room Sutton fell asleep (at 6:00!) so we ordered dinner and ate in our room. The trip was wonderful and our boys can't wait to go back and are really great at howling like a wolf/coyote now!
