Christmas 2012

This Christmas was a wonderful one. I feel like it was our "first Christmas." It was the first Christmas for Mason to understand and talk about Santa. Really all he understood was that he brought presents :) Mason was also very excited about opening presents and playing with his new things. Mason shows attention to every single thing he is given and I'm so thankful for this attribute he has. Even on his first birthday he would move from one present to the next one that he had opened and so forth. This Christmas wasn't any different. Whether he was opening a huge Thomas the Train tent for our living room (thanks a lot Mimi!) or a new bicycle, he showed each attention before moving on. We spent the weekend in Boerne with my family. Elizabeth and Mason love each other and it's so nice to see them play together. They scream, they chase, they eat, everything together...this year each time Elizabeth was going potty Mason had to as well....wish she was here daily so potty training would come easier! We spent Sunday in Fredericksburg at Wayne and Kay's. Again, such a fun time with family. Mason decided he was hot and took his shirt off. The only bad part was that he enjoyed rolling in the grass so ended up with scratches everywhere. He has no fear, no hurts, and apparently his new thing is no clothes. He has been taking his clothes off all the time recently. He really enjoyed playing with all the cousins though. He was asleep in the car about 2 mintues down the road. Christmas Eve Ryon and I attempted to go to church. It was an attempt because since Sutton was diagnosed with RSV last week I didn't want to take him to the nursery. The church was a bit crowded though and he wouldn't fall asleep in my arms so we ended up having to leave after one song. I was sad because Christmas Eve Service is my favorite church service all year long and I cherish the time in the church on this night. At least I got to see the pretty flowers and see one group of kids sing a song though. We then headed to Rick and Teri's to have Christmas with them. They outdid themselves on food once again and we really had a good time opening gifts. Teri gave me a really nice set of Jon Hart bags and I'm so excited about them. I don't ever buy myself really expensive things or even ask for them but I had always wanted this so I was SO thankful. RYON GAVE ME A CAMERA! I cried. I really did. It was so thoughtful and I had really been wishing I had one and I am so in love with it. I took exactly 185 pictures in two days :) Now I just have to find the time to actually get to play with the pictures and do things with them! We slept here at our house for the first time on CHristmas Eve. We woke up and had Santa and it was so nice just being the four of us. I had dreamed of spending Christmas Day morning with my sweet family for a long time and I'm really thankful it all worked out. I made a great crock pot egg casserole over night and a french bread casserole that Mason likes. We spent the morning here playing and relaxing and drinking too much coffee by the fire. Exactly what I had wanted. When Mason woke from his nap we headed back to Ryon's parents to have stockings and relax and eat again with the family. We are worn out but it was a great long weekend for Christmas. Of course Mason didn't sleep last night either adding to our exhaustion. I got Ryon a big tool box for the garage and he spent Christmas Day organizing and playing with all his tools. I think he loved it. We got Mason a bicycle and a wagon. He loves them and they made really great Santa gifts. I'm currently working on getting the house picked up and finding a place for the overwhelming amount of toys we now have. I'm getting rid of every small piece that doesn't get played with! Merry Christmas 2012!
