Christmas 2010

Well Christmas has come and gone again! I haven't been very good about blogging so this is going to be a long one. Christmas started off with a wonderful night with Sandy and Bill at their house. They had us over for Luigi's take out and visiting and of course presents for Mason. They bought him a Santa bag and filled it with goodies. They gave us the Elf on the Shelf, which will be so wonderful to get him to be good in the coming years, The night before Christmas book, stuffed animals, outfits, bibs, everything was so wonderful. We really had a great time visiting with them. Christmas Eve we went to our church, First Presbytarian, and Ryon was a greeter. We got there super early and found a seat near the back in case Mason decided to act up. He ended up sleeping thru the whole service though! We then went to Ryon's parent's house for Christmas dinner and presents. Mason again slept thru all the fun. Ryon and Josh were given new boots and I gave Ryon a nice Jon Harte boot bag. We slept there and had a relaxing day on Christmas day. Sunday we woke up and drove to Baird for Granny's Christmas. Our car was SOOO full for the week we had ahead of us. We stopped by Papa's and he gave us a rocking chair for our house. It's so special to have a nice gift from them. At Vestal Christmas we got to meet the other cousins that were born in November along with Mason. We had Crew and Jax there, Samuel wasn't able to make it. So having three new babies there was very fun. When we left there, Mason was a bit hungry but we wanted to get on the road a bit if we could. Mason ended up making it all the way to Fort Worth before he started really screaming his hungry cry! We were so happy with him! We went to Don and Amy's new house as they showed us around. we are so happy for the two of them. We stayed at the Creasant Hotel downtown thanks to Rick and Teri. It is a beautiful hotel, but having to still wake up 2-3 times a night, takes the full relaxation out of the picture. Monday morning Ryon left to play golf with Daniel and Don. I had a lazy morning in the hotel and then met Kristi at the mall. Which was SO dumb, as it was two days after Christmas. The guys finished golfing and we met them at Esparza's in Grapevine. It was fun to visit with old friends, which just always makes us sad to leave them. Mason did great hanging out with the boys and of course slepts most of the time. He misses out on a lot of parties! Tuesday morning we loaded up again (thanks to being in a five star having valet and bell boys!) and headed south. The weather was gross the whole drive. We stopped in Killeen so Mason could meet Dustin White. Then we stopped for lunch somewhere. I jumped in the back and fed Mason and we were good to go for the rest of the trip. Boerne was great having Mason and Elizabeth. E is walking around like crazy and just talks up a storm, however we can't understand her yet. Mom got Mason a ton of great toys, which will be great in a few months when he needs something to play with. Thursday morning we drove to the Ranch. We had Geistweidt Christmas where I had quite the young little babysitters with Keilee and Faith. It was a beautiful day! Friday was new year's eve day and Ryon and my dad drove around the land for a few hours and mom said she'd care for Mason so I got to lay my head down! It was much needed. I spent my New Year's feeding Mason in the living room. I told him that someday he wouldn't think it was cool to spend New Year's Eve with his mom, so I'm going to cherish these times. Saturday we got up and drove home to Midland. We went straight to Rick and Teri's, picked up Bradley and dropped Mason off. They kept him for the afternoon so we could unpack and rest. We went back over there to get him later and they decided to keep him the night. The sleep was much needed and I felt so much better Sunday ready to face laundry and our real life again.
At Mason's one month check, he weighed 8.3! So he is growing. He's still eating about 6 oz every three and a half hours. He doesn't stay awake much though. I'm trying to keep him awake to lay on the mat or read, but if his belly is full, then he wants to sleep. We still aren't sleeping thru the night, but I have a feeling we are getting closer. It's still pretty early though. We have just about grown out of our newborn diapers :( I'm using up the last of them I think. His newborn clothes are getting tighter by the day and the clothes that were still a bit big, fit him perfect now! He smiles a little. But I can't really get him to do it on cue yet. His face is getting chubbier, and I feel that in his 5-6 week he has changed the most. I feel like he "grew up" over the week we were gone. He's still making really funny noises when he eats and punches his arms when hungry. He has the saddest little pouty face too. He really enjoys laying with Daddy in the recliner and seems to finally get calm if he's been fussy once Daddy takes him. Bradley is wonderful with him and watches out for him and me throughout the day.
