Dear Sutton

I just read the letter I had written to Mason about his "birth" day and I really need to do a better job for Sutton...so here goes.

Dear Sutton,
The day you were born was a wonderfully fun day. We didn't know what you were going to be even though every one predicted a little girl in our future. Boy did you surprise EVERYONE! The night before you were born the family met at TK and Grandaddy's. We had a wonderful dinner out on the patio in celebration of you. Grandmommie and Papa were there along with Great Grandaddy, Granny, and the rest of the Vestal crew. Aunt Dona brought dessert complete with little pink plates and it's a girl napkins. I told her I needed one to put into my little BOY's baby book someday and she laughed, because she was convinced you were going to be a a girl. She was wrong :) There is a napkin in your baby book! haha.
The morning of May 17, 2012 Daddy and I woke at 4 am. We had to be at the Doctor by 5:30 am. We got all settled in. The morning went by pretty quick. About 7:15 Dr. Locke came in to see us and we were ready to go. They wheeled me into the operating room, it was just as freezing and scary as the first time. They didn't have to strap my arms down this time which made me nervous at first but was nice in the end. The surgery was so much different with you. My medicine worked and I hardly felt a thing. Before I knew it Dr. Locke yelled, It's a BOY!!!! I literally yelled out at him saying, "what? are you sure? oh my gosh!!!!" He said he was definitely sure and we heard your cry for the first time. I just looked at Ryon in disbelief. We were both stunned. Dr. Nabolsi brought you to me and I remember just looking at you thinking, oh my gosh, my sweet Sutton boy is here! You have been my sweet Sutton ever since. Ryon then left the room with you to tell our family and to meet you in the nursary. They finished my surgery up and I stayed in recovery for a bit. I remember thinking how good I felt in recovery, it was so weird to be alive and awake. The rest of the day you were greeted by all of our family members. You got to meet your brother Mason that night. He didn't want much to do with you at first because he was tired and cranky, but by night number 2, he loved you. We stayed in the hospital until Saturday and brought you home to our house on Normandy Lane. I was excited to have all your boy stuff already out and waiting for you.  You do have a few new things of your very own. I promise you won't have handy me downs your entire life :) I love you sweet Sutton and I can't wait to see the man you become.
Love, Mama.

  1. I'm glad your delivery was less scary this time around. Your sweet family is always in our prayers and I hope that you're adjusting quickly to having two precious baby boys around the house:-)
