Kentucky Trip and a few thoughts

We had a great trip to Kentucky over Labor Day weekend. Yes we drove with both boys for the 16 hour trip. My boys are amazing. Ryon and I were a bit nervous, but we were going in with an open mind and a united front, so we were ready for whatever was going to happen. Mason's used to taking long trips since we live so far from the world out here...and this trip was really no different for him. We left Wednesday morning after breakfast and made our first stop 4 hours later in Weatherford. Mason had a minor breakdown leaving chic-fil-a because we had to leave and he couldn't play. This fit is in my normal every day schedule, so I wasn't really surprised. We loaded up and drove 5 more hours to Texarkana. I found a really great restaurant that had an outdoor patio with a sand pit for Mason. Perfect. It was super hot so Ryon and I were sweating while eating, but Mason was happy so we just dealt with it. We then drove about 3 more hours to Little Rock. We found a hotel and the unpacking began. We have quite the load these days....We were trying to get ahead of the rain from the hurricane, and we only saw a few minor drops along our entire trip! From Little Rock, it's about 5 more hours to Murray Kentucky where my family is. We found a little town that had a great park for lunch where we could feed Sutton and Mason could play and we were on our way for the last little leg of the trip. A mean ol cop gave us a ticket in that cute little town :( We got to Murray Thursday afternoon. It was nice to unwind and have a the afternoon and night to ourselves before everyone else got there Friday. We had a great weekend playing and visiting with cousins we never get to see. Mason sweat the entire weekend. Let me rephrase that. WE ALL SWEAT the entire weekend. It was so humid and us west texas folk just couldn't handle it. Mason's hair was curly the entire time :) We left Sunday morning and drove 11 hours and made it to Fort Worth that night. We were thrilled with how the boys did in the car and the hotel. Both slept great and Mason didn't do any permanent damage to any of our hotel rooms :) Except taking apart one of the AC units in Murray! ha. But he was able to put it back together, no problem!

Sutton started Mother's Day Out as well this past week. He's so young for me to take him and I really don't love the idea of him being there two days a week, but if I didn't get him a spot now, I wouldn't be able to get him in until next summer. He's doing pretty well, eating okay. And Mason loves his class and has stopped completely screaming when I leave him now. I'm finding it nice to not have a baby on my hip every move I make too. Tuesday I cleaned the entire house, took a shower, put on CLEAN clothes, and went grocery shopping...whoa. That's a big day for me :) With the boys, I usually can only go to the store.

Things I'm loving about Mason: ABC puzzle time, choo choo time, the simplicity of watching Cars, when he says "i'm sorry" for trying to kill his brother and then getting upset when Sutton doesn't allow him to kiss him on the lips. Mason loves to kiss. But it has to be on the lips...so get ready if you are around! HIs words "i don't know", "outside", his cheese ball smile when my camera comes out to take a brother picture. "whoa!" his creativity. This morning he climbed up on the following: kitchen table, kitchen stool, coffee table, inside Sutton's crib, on top of toy box, and on the bathroom counter (with no help from a chair.) And while I was trying to change the sheets, he proceeded to stand on the footboard and jump into the mound of pillows on the floor. He has no fear. And I absolutely love this about him. He's not afraid of anything or anyone. The world is at his fingertips and if he wants something, he goes for it and figures out how to take it apart, get on top of, and recreate. All great qualities if you ask me :)

Things I love about Sutton: His eyes look into your soul. His smile lights up a room and it's always bigger for mommy :), He rolls and rolls, however he still can't figure out how to get back from stomach to back. He has the funniest squeak when he thinks you aren't going to feed him anymore. And the saddest sad face you've ever seen if he's starting to get upset about something.

Things I love about RYON: His patience. It's not easy to haul the three of us to Kentucky, unload cars, feed, change, put to bed, and everything else under the moon. He works so hard. And loves us just as much. He loves me being home with the boys and allows me to truly enjoy my days with them.
