The day in the Life of Mason

Mason has a fabulous life. Oh to be him....He's been doing really funny things lately and I feel like I've only documented my thoughts and complaints on life lately. This is not good! Mason is now 15 months old so here's our typical day and a few funnies. He's now in his toddler bed, at least for a few weeks before we purchase his full size mattress, so he now wakes up closer to the 7:30 hour instead of the 8:30 hour. I'm slowly getting used to this :) When he wakes up he is immediately in play mode. He needs no time to wake up and adjust. It's 0-90 right away. He still hates to have his diaper changed. Therefore he kicks me, screams at me, flips over, pulls on his diaper (which is super gross when he's pooped!), the entire time. Can I potty train yet??? I'm ready! Once we get over that then we make our way to the kitchen for breakfast. He always has to find Bradley and say good morning. Bradley and him have really started to interact the last few weeks. Bradley is getting a little too comfortable in my opinion but Mason loves to scream and laugh at him. He thinks its really funny to take Bradley's toys only to be chased. Mason could eat little smokies for every single meal. It's the only way he'll eat eggs. And really he only eats the egg part on accident. He has started to really want to be held and just stands at my legs saying mamamamama. Oh those pitiful eyes. I'm trying to not pick him up every time since the baby comes soon and I won't be able to. He usually just rolls around on the floor in misery in the morning while I'm making something for him if he's unhappy with me. He is very dramatic at times. The last two weeks he's been taking only one nap a day, in the afternoon. So in the mornings I've been keeping us busy with errands and playing. If we have to go to HEB he is quite the character. He loves to make as much noise as possible (happy sounds). He makes people laugh alot. He also loves to blow kisses to people in line behind us. He is a flirt. He always pulls his shoes off. I don't even know why I bother putting them on really. And at the store he just wants to stand up in the cart. So I spend a lot of time telling him to use a quiet voice and to sit on his bottom. The doggy door is an unending battle these days. Now that's it's pretty outside and we've been playing on his new playground much more, he thinks he can go out there anytime he wants. I often catch him half way out and pull him back in. You can imagine the drama that creates. I love that he wants to be outside all the time, but I have to teach him to go with me. So in the mornings we've been walking. he's trying to learn to walk and hold my hand. Somedays are better than other's. He loves to chase bradley down the street. But everytime we are going inside he walks to the front door with me, I let go of his hand to get Bradley in and he turns and makes a B line down the sidewalk. About 12:30 or 1 I try to put him down. This is a long process now. It takes him at least an hour to fall asleep after playing and running around his room. Yesterday he was in the middle of the floor with the broken diaper genie laying in the floor next to him. yes I think he really did break it! Thank GOD it was empty of diapers. Today he fell asleep right in front of his door so I couldn't get in. I had to go thru the bathroom to get him into bed. He's so sweet when I go in there to get him. I pick him up and he kind of starts shaking because he's so startled, but falls right back to sleep once in bed. he's been sleeping for about two hours. The afternoon is always different. Sometimes we meet friends at the park, or run errands I didn't get to do in the morning, or Ryon's home so we get to play with him. He goes to bed around 7 or 8 depending on his mood and what's going on.
Things I don't want to forget: He bangs his head on everything when gets mad. walls, doors, fridge, floor. He usually has a huge red mark on his forehead for some reason or the other. When he gets mad he also goes to the fridge and throws all the magnets off onto the floor. He loves his new room. He loves to play on the couch but needs help getting up there. He runs and falls, it's very funny. He loves to feed bradley his snacks. And shake his snack cup so it goes everywhere. He loves his books and is very particular in which ones he wants you to read if you are reading the wrong one. He is eating like a horse now. He is really using his signs for eat and more now, but I don't really think he has the total grasp on more yet because he seems to always ask for more but then be done after like one more bite. He loves music and will pick it out in every store we go into and start dancing. I keep music on in the house usually during the day and if it's not on he'll go to the kitchen and point at the radio. He won't watch one thing on tv yet, sometimes Wheel of Fortune. He loves to go to Junior League with me and climb up on the stage and run around like crazy. He is just always in play mode. He wants to laugh, make other's laugh and feels no reason why he can't scream and be happy. He's starting to take his diaper off if he doesn't have pants on, so the other day while on the phone he was running around the house naked, screaming/laughing at the top of his lungs, and just being a complete goof...so glad it was my mom I was talking to and not a client!Overall, the word that describes him most right now is funny. I never know what the day is going to bring or what we'll end up enjoying. It's always different.

  1. He sounds ALOT like Quin (especially the doggy door part, throwing magnets off the fridge, playing ON the couch, and being a huge flirt) I sure wished we lived in the same town, I have a feeling they would be the best of friends....
